Partnering Your Way to Online Success - Using Affiliate Programs
One of the major challenges of starting any business is finding a product of service to sell.  Affiliate programs on the Internet provide a treasure trove of offerings around which you can create your own business.  The most common way for making money online with affiliate programs is through posting a link on your website.  When a customer clicks on that link and buys the product, you earn a commission.

There are many advantages to making money online with affiliate programs.  Startup costs are minimal. The only money you spend is to promote the product, whether through a Website or other means.  You don't actually sell the product, so you don't spend time shipping the products or money to buy them at wholesale prices, hoping to sell them later.  Another advantage is that you don't have to worry about unsatisfied customers returning the product to you.

A good way to start making money online with affiliate programs is to find a subject you are interested in and start a Website. After the Website is up, find companies that sell this product and register to be an affiliate.  They will give you some code to paste in your Website.  You can use text codes or pictures, but text code seems to be the most effective for converting to sales.

Look at Websites in your area of interest. For example, if you are interested in music, look at sites devoted to your favorite musicians.  Study them to see how they place ads. Notice your responses to those ads.  Some are annoying, but others will make you want to click through.  Learn from this and place ads similar to those that interested you.

Starting a Website devoted to something you love is rewarding. If you need some extra money, making money online with affiliate programs can be a useful addition to something you already enjoy.

There are many entrepreneurs today who are earning thousands of dollars each month. They have found financial freedom. And when asked what they exactly do with their online business, their answer is affiliate marketing. But what makes many entrepreneurs successful in affiliate marketing? Entrepreneurs are successful in affiliate marketing because they were able to convert the visits of Internet users into sales.

How is it possible for affiliates to easily convince visitors to purchase their products? The answer lies in pre-selling. The big secret in affiliate marketing success is an effective pre-selling. Pre-selling happens when the visitor is already willing to purchase the product even before he clicks the banner that will link him to the merchant’s website.r

In pre-selling, the target customer is already convinced of the importance of a certain product. And by the time the target customer arrives in the merchant’s website, he will immediately proceed to the order form page. Thus, the affiliate gets a high conversion of visits into sales. But how will an affiliate conduct an effective pre-selling?

First, the affiliate must realize that having banners alone is not reliable. Some visitors may click on such banners and the affiliate may be paid by the merchant in a pay-per-click compensation scheme. But the earnings from such a set-up will be meager. With banners only, the affiliate will be struggling just to earn a few dollars. Therefore, the affiliate must have more in his website other than banners.

This leads to the second thing that an affiliate must realize and do something about. The affiliate must realize that he must have good content in his website. Such good content must be two things. First, it should make the affiliate’s website land high on the list of search engines. This is putting the website in the path of target clients. And second, the good content should entice the client of the importance of a certain product or range of products.

The content, however, should not do hard selling. That is, the content should not be obvious about the selling of the products. If the visitor realizes the selling, he will have second thoughts and may not click on the merchant’s banner at all. This is why the content should be informative and should expound on the benefits of the product. The affiliate’s website should become a fountain of information for the visitors so that he will return again and again to the website.

It is also a good idea to have several products being promoted in the affiliate’s website. This way, the visitor will have choices and he will not think that the affiliate is simply selling the product.

Do you happen to be a webmaster that needs money for your website?  Well if you are a web publisher you're going to need cash, affiliate marketing may work for you.  With affiliate marketing, you may get a lot of cash driving into your bank.  Furthermore if your website is rich in great contents, why not get into the Google Adsense program?

Why Affiliate Marketing?

Because affiliate marketing is most likely the best way to earn profits online.  Even online retailers can gain from affiliate marketing programs, affiliate marketing actually works for merchants as well as it works for the affiliates.

Simply said, is a liaison or agreement made between two websites, with one site being the merchant's website and the other being the affiliate's site.  The affiliate agrees to let the merchant promote his products on the affiliate's site, and the merchant, agree to pay the affiliate in whatever scheme they have agreed into.  This would normally mean easy profits for the affiliate, as he would do nothing but place the retailer's ad on his site.  This would also be very favourable for the merchant, as getting affiliates to advertise their goods would be a lot more affordable than hiring an advertising firm to promote their products.

There are a range of methods on how the merchant would compensate the affiliate for his services, and for the webmaster, these methods simply translates to the method by which he would earn easy money.  Among the more common methods of compensation are the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method, and the pay-per-sale method.  The pay-per-click method is the method most favoured by affiliates, for their site's visitor would only have to visit the advertiser's site for them to gain money.  The other two methods are better preferred by merchants, as they would only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor would actually buy their products.

Getting takings on affiliate marketing programs does not depend so much on the payment method it does on the traffic generated by your site.  A website that can catch the attention of more visitors would usually have the greater chance of profiting in affiliate marketing programs.

Google Adsense.

Google Adsense is in fact some sort of an affiliate marketing program.  In Google Adsense, Google act as the agent between the affiliates and the merchants.  The merchant, or the advertiser, would sign up with Google and provide the latter with text ads pertaining to their products.  These ads, which are in fact a link to the advertiser's website, would then appear on Google searches as well as on the websites owned by the affiliates, or by webmasters who have signed up with the Google Adsense program.

While one can find a lot of similarities between Google Adsense and other affiliate marketing programs, you can also see a lot of differences.  In Google Adsense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest.  The ads that Google would place on your site would generally be related to the content of your site.  This would be helpful both for you and for the advertiser, as the visitors of your site would more or less be interested with the products being advertised.

The Google Adsense program compensates the affiliate in a pay-per-click basis.  The advertisers would pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google would then forward this sum to you through checks, although only after Google have deducted their share of the amount.  Also, the Google Adsense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows you to monitor the earnings you get from a certain ad.

Where do all of these lead us to?

To profits!  Affiliate marketing programs and the Google Adsense program plainly work, whether you are the merchant or the affiliate.  For the merchant's side, a lot of money can be saved if advertising effort is concentrated on affiliate marketing rather than on dealing with advertising firms.  For the webmaster, you can easily gain a lot of profits just by doing what you do best, by creating websites.  And if you combine all your profits from both the Google Adsense program and other affiliate marketing programs, it would certainly convert to a large amount of cash.

1. Starting with affiliate programs: Many people start their online businesses by joining a few affiliate programs. When you do this commissions from these programs will allow you to build up an income so that you can develop your own business. Many successful business people have done this.

2. Make a profitable main income: Other people have even made a sizable income from affiliate programs and become Super affiliates. They make 1000s of dollars in affiliate commissions every month. This enables them to earn a good living from only working their affiliate programs.

3. Supplement your main income: You can supplement your income by joining a few affiliate programs that are related to your product and service. They will help to increase income and allow you to fund and develop your business.

4. Allow you to cross sell, or use as backend products: Affiliate programs will allow you to cross promote and sell back end products to your customers. Always choose programs that will compliment your service or products. When you sell to your customers you can offer one of your sponsor's products as a backend product.

5. Passive income: Build up a large team of affiliates under you in a 2-tier affiliate program and you can earn a steady income without having to do anything after building your team. This is all about numbers you will need a team of at least 100 + affiliates under you to start making money and build up to a large number to see a good income with this method.

More ways to use affiliate programs to develop your business:

Start a newsletter: Even if you decide to only do affiliate programs it is very important to offer a free newsletter. This will be on any topic relating to your business and targeting the same market as your affiliate programs.

Your newsletter will encourage visitors to your website to subscribe to your newsletter this allows you to build your business from your visitors as you can sell your affiliate products to your subscribers. Many will actually buy from links in your newsletter, as they build up trust with you. This is another way that you can build your business with affiliate programs that many affiliates do not do. There is no reason that you cannot build your business as well as building your sponsor's.

Affiliate programs are an easy business to build or enhance your business. There are 2 important things to remember when working affiliate programs.

Targeted traffic: To make any business effective you need to drive a steady stream of targeted traffic to your site. This can be done by: Linking Search engine submissions PPC such as Google Adwords Pre sell do not sell to your visitors. Your sponsor has the sales page to do the selling, your job as an affiliate is to get your visitors to click on the link to it. You do this by creating interest and curiosity in your visitor for your sponsor's products.

When you use affiliate programs to supplement your income you will be surprised at how much those seemingly small commissions will add up. Choose ones that complement your main products and try to choose programs that have products and services that are highly targeted to your market. In this way you will be making maximum profit.

One of the main reasons more people are not making money on the Internet is that they don't have a product or service they can market.  Most people find it too difficult to develop a product, promote it with a website, and create a marketing plan to get it front of the right people. Most do not have the knowledge or expertise to even get started and are frustrated before they even begin.  Does this sound like you?  It was for me until I discovered affiliate programs.

Affiliate programs work like a joint venture where you partner with someone who has already developed a product, created a marketing plan and are promoting it with a website.  Most affiliate programs will provide you with a product you can market, free website promotion tools, and free training to show you how to promote the program.  You drive traffic to the website and they will process and fill the order, handle customer service, collect payments and handle returns.  You keep as much as 50% of the profits for your efforts.  It's a great way to start earning money right away!

Where can you find a good affiliate program?  You will find thousands of opportunities using an internet search under "affiliate programs".  Many of the websites you are visiting now may already have an excellent affiliate program established. You can join it and make money in an area that you enjoy or already have expertise in. The best site I have found for affiliate programs is clickbank.com.  This site lists hundreds of successful affiliate programs people are using to make money with today.

Now I am going to let you in on a secret that can explode your affiliate marketing profits.  Capture the email addresses of those interested in the affiliate program you are trying to promote. Why?  You will develop your own opt in mailing list that you can send repeated emails to capture additional sales.  You can also market other products and services to this list once it is developed.  You will create an asset that can be used over and over again, multiplying your online income!

Promoting affiliate programs is an excellent way to start earning money on-line right away. It is also a great way to break into new markets. If you already have a large email list to market to, you can send out an endorsement email and generate sales within minutes.  The possibilities are endless.  Check out affiliate programs today!

To your success!

Are you a webmaster in need of additional income?  Or are you planning to set up an online business but you still don't have any product to sell?  If so, affiliate marketing may be the best solution for your problems.  With affiliate marketing, you won't need to worry about the products you have to sell.  All you need to have is a website with sufficient contents that are related to the products of a certain online company offering affiliate programs.  By becoming a member of the program, or by becoming an affiliate, you can start earning a certain amount of money right away!

Affiliate marketing is some sort of business relationship established between a merchant and his affiliates.  In affiliate marketing, an affiliate agrees to direct some traffic to a merchant's website.  If that traffic is converted into some kind of action, like a visitor purchasing a product on the merchant's website or a visitor becoming a lead for the company, the affiliate who directed the traffic will be compensated.  Compensation may take the form of either a percentage sales commission for the sales generated or a fixed fee predetermined upon the application of the affiliate on the merchant's affiliate program.

Promising a lot of benefits both for the merchants and the affiliates, affiliate marketing has become one of the most popular online marketing methods today.  In fact, almost every merchant or retailer site today offers an affiliate program that any one can join into.  Most retailers would entice people to become affiliates or members of their program by promising great benefits like large commissions, lifetime commissions, click through incomes and a lot of other benefits.  But would all these affiliate programs bring off the same benefits?

Most affiliate programs would pay you, as an affiliate, a one-time commission for every sale or lead you brought to the merchant's website.  Commissions for this kind of affiliate programs are usually large, ranging from 15% to a high of about 60%.  Other affiliate programs would pay you a fixed fee for every click through or traffic you send to the merchant's site.  Programs like this often pay a smaller fee for every click through, usually not getting any larger than half a dollar.  The good thing about this kind of program, however, is that the visitor won't have to purchase anything in order for the affiliate to get compensated.

Another type of affiliate program is the residual income affiliate program.  Residual affiliate programs usually pay only a small percentage of sales commission for every sale directed by the affiliate to the merchant's site.  This commission often comes only in the range of 10% to 20% sales commission.  Because of this, many people ignore residual affiliate program and would rather opt for the high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  Are these people making a mistake, or are they making the right decision?

We can't tell, for sure, if people are making a mistake by choosing a high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  But we can definitely say that they are making a large mistake if they ignore residual affiliate programs.  Residual affiliate programs would indeed pay at a lower rate, but merchants offering such kind of programs would generally pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a single affiliate initiated sale!  That means, for the same effort you made in promoting a particular affiliate program, you get paid only once in a one-time commission program, and a regular and ongoing commission for a residual program!

So, are the benefits of promoting residual affiliate programs clearer to you now?  Or are they still vague?  If they are still vague, then let's make them a bit clearer with this example.

Suppose there are two online merchants both offering web hosting services on their sites.  The first merchant offers a one-time commission type of affiliate program that pays $80 for every single affiliate initiated sale.  The second merchant also offers an affiliate program, but this time a residual affiliate program that pays only $10 for every single affiliate initiated sale.  As an affiliate, we may get attracted at once at what the first merchant is offering, as $80 is definitely a lot larger than $10.  But by thinking things over before actually getting into them, one may be able to see that the second merchant is offering us more opportunity to earn a larger amount of money.

Supposed you have directed traffic to the merchant and it converted into a sale, you'll get paid once by the first merchant for the sale you have initiated.  But with the second merchant, you'll get paid monthly for as long as the customer you have referred to the merchant continues to avail of the web hosting service.  That means that for the same effort of getting one customer to avail of the merchant's service, you get paid monthly in residual affiliate programs while you only get paid once in a one-time commission type of affiliate programs.

So, are residual affiliate programs worth promoting?  Definitely yes, because you virtually get more money from these types of affiliate programs in the long run!  And would residual affiliate programs work best for you?  Probably not, probably yes.  It is not really for me to tell.  But with the benefits that residual affiliate marketing can provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such programs.

There are many benefits to gain by promoting yourself to an affiliate manager position. If you’re already an affiliate marketer, you already know what tasks to do in order to make affiliate sales. The problem here is that you only have so much time every day to do those tasks. As an affiliate manager, you can leverage your efforts by helping recruit, support, and assist a whole army of affiliates to do those tasks for you. That means less work as an affiliate manager, and more profits leveraged from all the affiliates you manage.

If you have a product or service of your own, you can start your own affiliate program and promote yourself to affiliate manager. Now you may be thinking “That sounds good, but I don’t have a product or service of my own”. Well, even if you don’t have your own product or service, you can still become an affiliate manager, because many online businesses are now realizing how much more they can earn from their affiliate programs when they hire a qualified affiliate manager to run it for them. Some marketers are paying their affiliate managers as much as $3000-$5000 per month, plus a percentage between 2.5%-25% of gross affiliate sales they generate.

The other option you have is to find someone with a product or service that doesn’t have an affiliate program setup, and do a joint venture with them, where you build them an affiliate program, and become their affiliate manager. You can then negotiate some terms of how you get paid; whether you want a set monthly salary, a percentage of all affiliate sales, or a bit of both.

If you already have a product or service and you don’t have an affiliate program in place for it, then what are you waiting for? Start up an affiliate program as soon as you can, become your own affiliate manager, or hire someone else who is qualified to manage your affiliate program. Warning: Your profits may go through the roof, so be prepared to handle a lot of sales.

As an affiliate manager, there are a lot of things you need to know in order to maximize your affiliate programs effectiveness. It is important to know where to find and recruit super affiliates (These are affiliates that will make the majority of your sales). Also, how to motivate and encourage affiliates to sell more, and how to create and offer marketing/sales tools to your affiliates to make their job easier, and allow them to make more sales.

You may need some extra training, if you want to become a qualified affiliate manager. Getting the proper training will allow you to increase your effectiveness and truly leverage your success to new heights. Luckily, there are many places to find training materials (such as e-books, reports, & software) online for free, as well as the higher priced more comprehensive courses created to produce professional affiliate managers. Some courses even have affiliate manager placement programs, so that after you complete their certification requirements, they will help place you in a high paying affiliate manager position immediately. This kind of course doesn’t usually come cheap and is only for serious affiliate managers that want to make between $9,000-$25,000 per month, or $108,000-$300,000 per year. That kind of income would come from managing 3-5 affiliate programs at a time. If you’re managing your own affiliate program, you could potentially make even more. Although none of these earning figures are guaranteed, and it all depends on the affiliate manager placements you’d receive as well as the efforts you put forth as a successful and dedicated affiliate manager.

There are many different ways to promote your affiliate program, however, it depends upon what type of program it is, “Your Turnkey Program” or Affiliate Linked-Program for selling a product.  Hmm-mm, interesting.  What works, what doesn’t?

GET OUT THE WORD

Bulk Emailing – Bulk emailing use to be the craze.  Did you notice the word use to be the craze.  That has changed with the stricter spam rules and penalties – all to protect us.  But bulk emailing can be done, if you have an opt-in list – people who have opted-in – to gladly receive your emails – such as, through a newsletter.

Classified Ads – With free classified ads can definitely get hits – and possibly some sales.  But don’t choose this as your only way of getting sales.

There are drawbacks.  You ask, “What drawbacks”.  From my own experience, I’ve encountered individuals requesting information about my program – as a ploy to getting me to listen to their sales pitch.  SPAM?  Maybe.  Annoying? Definitely.  The height of annoyance is when they ask me to call them long distance, so that I can speak with them – only to have them give me a sales pitch on their program.

However, if you have a classified ad site on your website – you’ve got yourself a built-in opt-in list.  You can gently sell to them, while verifying or thanking them for their ad.

Traffic Generators – Traffic generators can work on a turnkey site that many others are also partaking in to generate money for themselves.  What I found is traffic generators are better suited for turnkey businesses.  It is basically a simple way for businesses to entice other people in business to look at your program.  You know – it’s the “I’m not really happy with what I’m doing, but what else is out there” syndome.  Or it’s the – “I really need another program so that I’m not a one-man Joe in business” syndome.  In either case, it’s a safe place to see what’s happening or new on the Internet.

Messageboards, Discussion Groups, Forums --  These are great ways to get your message out and be personal at the same time.  But you have to follow the rules, and you should contribute constructive and/or helpful information that is relevant to the discussion at hand.  This is a time-consuming way to build sales – but a great way to build credibility, business relationships, and sales.

Ezine and Safelist Advertising --  Ezine advertising and safelist advertising are good methods of advertising.  In each case, you have to join their list and follow their rules to submitting your ads.

If you want to try your hand at safelist advertising, I would suggest that you create a separate free email account on Yahoo.  Why?  A safelist allows all that have joined to submit their ads to you, as well as, you to them.  Here, your subject line is your eye catcher – so choose wisely.

Ezine advertising is a very good way to advertise your turnkey site, website, product or service.  You have the option for free (need to watch for their instructions), and various paid ads.  What’s great about ezines? It’s an opportunity to sell to a more targeted market.  The more targeted your market, the better the opportunity to get a sale.

Articles – Articles are a great way to get the word out about your website and your product or products.  However, please make the article informative – or you’ll lose your credibility and the reader.

Search Engine Optimization – If you have a website you should submit to search engines.  To review the process on how and where,  you can go to my site at http://www.myaffiliateplace.biz/Affiliate_Info_SEO_Keyword.htm.

As you can see, there are many methods of promoting – but the method of promoting your business is dependent upon whether it is a turnkey affiliate program , an affiliate product of service, or a website.  The choice is yours on how you want to promote -- experiment, find what works, and what doesn’t  -- that’s the sure way of learning and growing in the Affiliate Business.

If you are not creating articles for your website and your affiliate programs, you should. Why? Even though it may seem like a lot of work, and it may take you time to build -- articles add a valuable commodity to your site -- content.  And my friend, the search engines and people alike are always on the lookout for good content.

If you are creating articles, you are always looking to find ways to get your article out to the masses – and the more exposure your article has the greater the opportunity that people will read your article and want to visit your website.  Should you submit your articles manually or should you use an article marketer submission service that will choose for you -- where your article goes? Is an article submission service a good option for you when submitting articles?  I hope to show you both the pros and cons of this service and let you be the judge.

Pro to Article Submission Service

Article Submission Service can be a great help when your time is limited and you want to get your articles to all the article sites and groups. However, when the service is tiered, based on what you pay and don’t pay – you have to be aware of what you are getting..

All services give you a sampling with a free service – and I did find the free service to be on the, well, expected side. After submitting to the free service of an article submission service I received the following:

1. I received several emails that stated my article had been received by a site and would be looked at.  This is usual, and a good sign.
2. I received emails from the yahoo groups, which is a good sign but I didn’t partake because I knew that I would be receiving articles from other authors on a regular basis and did not want to overwhelm my private email address.  Thus, be aware, use a yahoo email address and keep your private email address separate.

The article submission to the article sites such as Ezine Articles  (Which, by the way, is one of my favorite sites) and Go Articles will require a small outlay of money for each article on a monthly basis.  Thus, I would use a submission service if:

1. I had a separate email address to catch the other authors’ articles that I would be receiving from the yahoo groups.

2. I wanted to part with my money to take advantage of the service.

3. Needed more time.

4.  I have a desire for a wider exposure of my articles and thus, more traffic to my site.

Cons of Using an Article Admission Service

When looking at anything new, you must determine when it is to your advantage to use a service or to do it yourself.  These are some of the issues I would have to overcome:

1. If I do the submission myself, I know that the article or articles have reached it expected destination or destinations – but the exposure my article gets will be limited by the sites that I know.
2. If I’m restricted by General Titles will the article sites kick my article out because of not possibly abiding by the rules.
3. If I do it myself, I can target my article to the specific, intended audience.

For me, I will use the paid submission service when I am low on time and I have the money in hand.  However, I will not waste my time on the free service because the return is very limited and from what I have seen offers little benefit to my site.

To conclude, you need to try different methods of getting your articles out to the masses.  And the success of these different methods is dependent on your own satisfaction or lack there of, of the results rendered by such services.  My advise, experiment and determine for yourself what services will help your business, who knows, that one service may be the punch in the arm your business needs to grow.

To your success.

The Horrible Internet No doubt the internet is saturated with money making offers, and like many of you reading this article, I have tried a considerable number of them and have ended up worse off than when I decided to join. There are a lot of hyped up and over inflammatory promises of how you will make thousands of dollars every week for the rest of your life. Tempting as these offers may sound, they also require you to buy the "system" so that the author can reveal the well guarded money making secrets, and it is only after your Credit Card or PayPal account has been billed that you finally realize that you've been sold a lemon. No doubt you're searching for an honest business opportunity to either supplement or replace your monthly income. Believe it or not, the potential to make real money online is there, but it is surprisingly not so easy to find. A few weeks back I came across an Affiliate Marketing program that struck me as odd and unusually different. It is called Affiliate Junktion. About Affiliate Junktion The first thing you will notice when you visit the Affiliate Junktion website is that you are readily told what the program is about before you even have to fill in your email address, let alone make a payment. The program is 100% free to join, and you should expect to earn at least $150 per day within 30 days after joining. $150 per day is the bare minimum you can expect to make after 30 days. I reached the $75 per day figure four days after starting the program, and the figure has been climbing steadily since. My target is $500 per day. What to Expect After signing up for free, you will receive a confirmation email, after which you receive another email with instruction on what to do next. Trust me, these instructions could not be simpler, and they make it very easy for you to kick off your business and work towards earning money every day. Here's what you can expect 1. Watch the 2 minute video tutorial on how to get started. 2. Register for a Pro hosting plan with iPower, which includes a free domain. You will have to pay for this yourself, BUT Affiliate Junktion will refund you soon after you mail them the confirmation. The cool thing about this is that I paid $53 for my hosting with iPower, but was refunded $75. Already that's a $22 profit before even getting started! 3. Once you get your membership and login information, you will have your website setup and running with your own first class domain. This is where the action starts. Unbelievable personal support anytime you need it. Your personal mentor is always more than willing to help you achieve the same success, although there may be some delay in response. What are the Risks? As mentioned before, the program is free to join, and I have never come across an affiliate program willing to pay for your hosting. The website you get is a real deal, and you can host 24 other separate domains using the same account in addition to the Affiliate Junktion one. So if you are looking to expand your online business later, this is by far the best way to get hosted for a whole year for FREE! In addition you will also be able to register an unlimited number of email addresses with your domains. Furthermore, Affiliate Junktion has a very unique and full proof guarantee in case you don't manage to make at least $150 per day after 30 days. Whilst most network marketing programs have a refund policy, Affiliate Junktion goes several steps further by offering you a Guaranteed Income. This means that if after 30 days you are still not making $150 per day, Affiliate Junktion will pay you $150 per day until you are able to make $150 per day on your own! Many success coaches and speakers are out there charging thousands of dollars and giving valuable information about using your potential, making money and becoming successful. The fact is, the underlying theme is to take action. You can start now and create an online business (most of you already have) and then improve your site over time. You can go ahead and create a web page about your product, add some testimonials, add a payment gateway, create an autoresponder and pay for your pay-per-click adds and you’re in the game. Better to start now then improve as you go along. The effort you put in for a day or two (for me it’s much longer, I have to be honest) will bring in repeated profits and it’s the best way to leverage your time. Sorry to bore you if you’re more experienced and have heard all the pep talk before.

The principle I want to talk about is the Kaizen principle. It’s the Japanese term for continuous improvement of something, beginning with one aspect, then another and another so that bit by bit the system improves and in time becomes far superior than when it started. It began in the late 80’s and early nineties when a Japanese business wanted to dominate their market and applied the principle to existing automobile and technology products. Pretty soon many Japanese businesses that adopted the principle had dominated their industries in a competitive foreign market.

If you put up a website and continued to make changes and implements the new tricks you learn and were able to improve it by 5% a week, within a year, it would be 13 times as good. Remarkable isn’t it? If your changes didn’t have any affect or had a poor affect you could undo them and with continued effort, you can build yourself a massive empire in a short period of time

If you promote an affiliate program and are not redirecting your affiliate links, you may be missing out on traffic and commissions opportunities. Redirecting your affiliate program links helps to minimize spam filtering of your email campaigns, increase the acceptance of article submissions, build backlinks to your site, and reduce "click fear".

Minimize Spam Filtering

If you are promoting an affiliate program through email, other (unscrupulous) affiliates of the same company may be indirectly hurting the delivery rate of your messages. Email filters will block messages that contain content or links associated with spam. Even if you send your message only to subscribers who have double opted-in to your list, your messages may still be blocked if it contains a URL used by spammers.

Search Engine Optimization

Most affiliate program URLs look something like http://www.example.com/?id=123. Unfortunately, most search engines have limited or no ability to read these links.

Google(TM) warns, "If you decide to use dynamic pages (i.e., the URL contains a "?" character), be aware that not every search engine spider crawls dynamic pages as well as static pages. It helps to keep the parameters short and the number of them few." Google goes on to tell us "Don't use "&id=" as a parameter in your URLs, as we don't include these pages in our index."

Furthermore, if you are publishing your affiliate link on other sites such as blogs, forums, etc., you are missing out on the opportunity to build valuable backlinks that could increase your search engine rankings.

Article Submissions

Submitting articles to web publishers and article directories is a powerful way to build backlinks to your site. Unfortunately, many publishers and directories do not accept articles that include affiliate links. However, virtually all will accept links to your own site. By replacing your affiliate link with a link to your own site, even one that redirects to your affiliate link, you will increase the number of article submissions accepted by publishers and directories.

Reduce "Click Fear"

Thanks to those few sites on the Web that distribute adware, spyware, viruses, etc., many web users are fearful of clicking on links, especially those that look "suspicious". To the average user who has no special knowledge of the internal workings of the Web, a link that has "unusual" characters such as those in dynamic URLs (e.g. http://www.example.com/?id=123&sub=456) will appear less trustworthy than a static link.

How to Redirect Your Affiliate Program URL

There are several ways to redirect your affiliate program links. The most "search engine friendly" method is the 301 Permanent redirect with the .htaccess file. You can use this method if your site is hosted on an Apache (Linux, Unix) based server.

To create a permanent redirect, open (or create) the .htaccess file. On a single line add the following code to the file:

redirect 301 /example.html http://www.example.com/?id=123&sub=456

This code tells the server to redirect "http://www.yoursite.com/example.html" to your affiliate link "http://www.example.com/?id=123&sub=456".

Other methods of redirecting include using PHP's header() function and HTML's meta refresh.

No matter what affiliate program you're promoting, you will benefit by redirecting your links. Redirecting your affiliate links can improve the delivery rate of your email campaigns as well as increase CTR. Your articles may be more readily accepted by article directories and web publishers. Furthermore, redirecting replaces links to your merchant with valuable backlinks to your own site.

RSS Feeds feed your website with fresh content.

First let’s understand what RSS is which “Rich Site Summary” is, it can be also known as “Really Simple Syndication”.
