Thousands of people each and every day attempt to raid the online bookmakers' pockets, placing bets on a wide variety of sporting events. Unfortunately for the majority of these the percentages back the bookmaker and therefore some will win but some will inevitably lose. It seems like an impossible situation, barring a radically successful betting technique, which is improbable to the point of being impossible, or becoming an online bookmaker yourself, ways in which to beat the system seem slightly limited. However if, rather than trying to fight against the sports betting sites, you decide to take a step back and join them you may well be on the right tracks to turning losses into profits in no time.

Without having to spend a penny or lock horns with the gambling fraternity, an Internet user of any skill can earn money from the sports betting industry. They can do so by joining one of the many affiliate-marketing programs available within the industry. It may sound a little speculative or even downright crazy, but affiliate marketing is actually one of the most successful ways for the common man and the big industries to profit from the Internet.

It works by simply rewarding persons who choose to host advertisements on their site, with a cash reward or a percentage of the profits from each player who clicks on them. Website owners can sign up to these affiliate programs for free and even receive all the advertising and marketing paraphernalia that is required as a part of the bundle. There are no hidden catches or risks involved, all that a sports betting site requires is a small area on the site in which to place an advertisement.

In exchange for this free enterprise advertising opportunity a sports betting affiliate has the potential to tap into one of the most unique online affiliate programs. Rather than offering a small percentage of a sale or an up front fee, the affiliates can choose to earn as a sports betting site earns it's money. To explain, each time a player loses money a sports betting site gains that money. However if that player has joined via the links of one of the many affiliate links on the Internet, that affiliate will receive a percentage of each lost bet. These percentages can range anywhere between 15 and 35%, depending on the level of the affiliate and a number of intricacies within the affiliate program. So each an every time a player bets an affiliate can earn up to 35% of that bet if it is lost.

However as it is gambling, players often win as well as lose, therefore some may question whether they are liable to lose cash should a player go on a rampant winning streak. The answer to this is a simple 'no'. Most affiliate programs offer their members a sort of protection, as they pay at monthly or bi-weekly intervals, they have the opportunity to tot up the overall revenue. This process takes into account all of the wins and the losses encountered by all of the players that each affiliate represents. If this is a minus figure, the affiliate will not be held liable. The sports betting site foots the bill and the affiliate has to simply settle for receiving no money in that period. However the more players playing for an affiliate, the less likely this is to occur. Therefore the onus is on them to bring in more customers, which in turn benefits both them and the sports betting site.

If you're seriously interested in knowing about Affiliate Programs, you need to think beyond the basics. This informative article takes a closer look at things you need to know about Affiliate Programs.

Are you a webmaster in need of additional income?  Or are you planning to set up an online business but you still don't have any product to sell?  If so, affiliate marketing may be the best solution for your problems.  With affiliate marketing, you won't need to worry about the products you have to sell.  All you need to have is a website with sufficient contents that are related to the products of a certain online company offering affiliate programs.  By becoming a member of the program, or by becoming an affiliate, you can start earning a certain amount of money right away!

Affiliate marketing is some sort of business relationship established between a merchant and his affiliates.  In affiliate marketing, an affiliate agrees to direct some traffic to a merchant's website.  If that traffic is converted into some kind of action, like a visitor purchasing a product on the merchant's website or a visitor becoming a lead for the company, the affiliate who directed the traffic will be compensated.  Compensation may take the form of either a percentage sales commission for the sales generated or a fixed fee predetermined upon the application of the affiliate on the merchant's affiliate program.

Promising a lot of benefits both for the merchants and the affiliates, affiliate marketing has become one of the most popular online marketing methods today.  In fact, almost every merchant or retailer site today offers an affiliate program that any one can join into.  Most retailers would entice people to become affiliates or members of their program by promising great benefits like large commissions, lifetime commissions, click through incomes and a lot of other benefits.  But would all these affiliate programs bring off the same benefits?

Most affiliate programs would pay you, as an affiliate, a one-time commission for every sale or lead you brought to the merchant's website.  Commissions for this kind of affiliate programs are usually large, ranging from 15% to a high of about 60%.  Other affiliate programs would pay you a fixed fee for every click through or traffic you send to the merchant's site.  Programs like this often pay a smaller fee for every click through, usually not getting any larger than half a dollar.  The good thing about this kind of program, however, is that the visitor won't have to purchase anything in order for the affiliate to get compensated.

Another type of affiliate program is the residual income affiliate program.  Residual affiliate programs usually pay only a small percentage of sales commission for every sale directed by the affiliate to the merchant's site.  This commission often comes only in the range of 10% to 20% sales commission.  Because of this, many people ignore residual affiliate program and would rather opt for the high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  Are these people making a mistake, or are they making the right decision?

How can you put a limit on learning more? The next section may contain that one little bit of wisdom that changes everything.

We can't tell, for sure, if people are making a mistake by choosing a high paying one-time commission affiliate program.  But we can definitely say that they are making a large mistake if they ignore residual affiliate programs.  Residual affiliate programs would indeed pay at a lower rate, but merchants offering such kind of programs would generally pay you regular and ongoing commissions for a single affiliate initiated sale!  That means, for the same effort you made in promoting a particular affiliate program, you get paid only once in a one-time commission program, and a regular and ongoing commission for a residual program!

So, are the benefits of promoting residual affiliate programs clearer to you now?  Or are they still vague?  If they are still vague, then let's make them a bit clearer with this example.

Suppose there are two online merchants both offering web hosting services on their sites.  The first merchant offers a one-time commission type of affiliate program that pays $80 for every single affiliate initiated sale.  The second merchant also offers an affiliate program, but this time a residual affiliate program that pays only $10 for every single affiliate initiated sale.  As an affiliate, we may get attracted at once at what the first merchant is offering, as $80 is definitely a lot larger than $10.  But by thinking things over before actually getting into them, one may be able to see that the second merchant is offering us more opportunity to earn a larger amount of money.

Supposed you have directed traffic to the merchant and it converted into a sale, you'll get paid once by the first merchant for the sale you have initiated.  But with the second merchant, you'll get paid monthly for as long as the customer you have referred to the merchant continues to avail of the web hosting service.  That means that for the same effort of getting one customer to avail of the merchant's service, you get paid monthly in residual affiliate programs while you only get paid once in a one-time commission type of affiliate programs.

So, are residual affiliate programs worth promoting?  Definitely yes, because you virtually get more money from these types of affiliate programs in the long run!  And would residual affiliate programs work best for you?  Probably not, probably yes.  It is not really for me to tell.  But with the benefits that residual affiliate marketing can provide, it would really be unwise to ignore such programs.

The average affiliate marketer just goes out and finds a product… any product that has a high commission… and throws up a link and sits back and HOPES that someone will click on it and buy the product. DON’T BE AVERAGE!

When you’re deciding what product to add to your affiliate marketing business, you really shouldn’t be looking at products at all! Instead, like a true super affiliate, you should be looking at people!

Become A Problem Solver

All super affiliates know that Products don’t buy products… people buy products! If you don’t know what the people who are a part of your niche are having problems with, are interested in, and are talking about then how can you fix their problem and sell something to them?

Super Affiliates Know Their Niche

Once you’ve decided upon a niche, you need to be a part of that niche… even if it’s just briefly. Do as the super affiliates do… Learn to talk the talk and walk the walk.

That’s extremely simple. Just do a search for forums that relate to your niche. Go to them and sign up. Read the posts on that forum. See what problems people are complaining about… see what topics are getting a lot of posts…see who the experts are in that niche.

As A Super Affiliate You Need To Study Your Market

Sign up for a newsletter or two. That will give you a good idea of the level of marketing in that niche and will also let you learn the “lingo” of the niche. See what products they are talking about and trying to sell. This will also give you an idea of whom to JV with when you start your own affiliate program for your own product or service!

Give Them What They Really Want

Before you start your campaign ask questions on the forums. Get to know some of the people. Build relationships with them. Give them the opportunity to get to know and trust you. After you’re an accepted member of the forum, ask them if they’d mind doing a survey for you in exchange for a nice gift. That’s when they actually tell you what they want and will buy!

When reviewing or recommending a product or service ask yourself… would I recommend this to my family and friends… is it of use and would they get value from it? It’s always best if you have used the product or service yourself first. This way you can give an honest review.

To make your review more believable, don’t just simply tell them how wonderful it is (which I’m sure it is), tell them what you didn’t like about it too. This will give your report more creditability and readers will put more trust in you.

By putting people first instead of the product you’ll have much greater success and elevate your status from that of an affiliate who just puts tons of links out their and hope some will stick, to someone who cares about his customers and goes that extra mile, therefore, earning the reputation as a super affiliate and huge repeat commissions for years to come.

Affiliate marketing is most probably the key to the survival and progress of many cyberspace businesses. And this is why affiliates are being sought everywhere by almost every online company. One traditional marketing arm will not be sufficient for one online business who will be competing with other online companies which are offering the same products and services. Thus, affiliate marketing is very vital.

Fortunately, many people with business blood in their veins realize the important role of affiliate marketing in e-commerce. And conducting affiliate marketing seems like a relatively easy method that even a person without a masters degree in business can do it. This is why there are many affiliates signing-up everyday. These new affiliates are supposed to open the doors of new leads for the online business. But nothing like that is happening

Many affiliates are not earning enough money and they find no significant activity going on in their websites. Is affiliate marketing a mistake? The answer is “no”. This practice is based on sound marketing concepts. And the major reason why most affiliates don’t earn enough money is that they have committed one or more of these mistakes.

Mistake #1: Hard Selling

An affiliate must not do “hard selling”, which is basically shoving the product down the throat of the customer. An affiliate should leave the “hard selling” part to the website of the online business. The affiliate’s own website should not contain anything that resembles “hard selling”.

What an affiliate must do in his website is to “pre-sell”. To pre-sell is to slowly convince the visitor of the importance of a service or a product by having excellent, information-laden, and authoritative content. Then, the affiliate will “suggest” an action for the visitor, which may be to check out the service or the product.

Mistake #2: Too Flashy Websites

An affiliate is supposed to respond to the need of the visitor, which is to obtain information. This means that the affiliate’s website should have information. Unfortunately, some affiliates are lured into making their websites into one electronic show, in which there are too many banners and too many “blinking” features that seek attention.

If there are too many banners and too few content, the visitor will most probably roll his eyes and hit the back button.

Mistake #3: Ignoring Search Engine Optimization

Activity in the affiliate’s website can be increased if the website’s URL ends up in the results page of search engines. Otherwise, the affiliate’s website is doomed to silence. It simply becomes a lifeless stone in the ever increasing world of e-commerce.

A person who intends to make more money in affiliate marketing should re-evaluate his website and determine if he has committed the mistakes described here.

More and More people are lured into affiliate marketing and you might be one of them. Indeed, affiliate marketing is one of the most effective means of generating a full-time income through the Internet. It’s a fair deal between the merchandiser and his affiliates as both benefit from each sale materialized. Like in other kinds of business, a great deal of the profits in affiliate marketing depends on the affiliate’s advertising, promoting and selling strategies. Everyday, as affiliate marketing industry expands, competition heightens as well so an affiliate marketer must be creative enough to employ unique and effective ways to convince potential buyers to purchase or avail of the products and services offered.

Compared to traditional advertising practices, affiliate programs are more effective, risk-free and cost-efficient. But why do many people still fail in affiliate marketing? There are a lot of reasons and a lot of areas in the program to look into. The most critical aspect in the affiliate program is advertising. Many affiliate marketers fail in this aspect because they lack hard work, which is the most important thing in affiliate marketing and in all other kinds of business as well. Although it pays to be lucky, you cannot merely rely on it. Affiliate marketing isn’t as simple as directing customers to the business site. If you want to earn big, of course, you have to invest time and great amount of hard work in promoting the products. As earlier mentioned, the competition is very high and customers nowadays are very wise, too. After all, who doesn’t want to get the best purchase—that is, to pay less and get more in terms of quantity and quality.

Lack of preparation is also a reason why one fails in affiliate marketing, whether he is a merchandiser or an affiliate. Part of the preparation is researching. On the part of the merchant, he has to be highly selective in choosing the right affiliate websites for his affiliate program. In order to be sure he has the best choices, he must have exhausted his means in looking for highly interested affiliates whose sites are sure fit to his products and services. The affiliate site’s visitors must match his targeted customers. On the other hand, the affiliate marketer must likewise research on the good-paying merchandisers before he signs up for an affiliate program. He must ensure that the merchants’ products and services match his interests so he can give his full attention and dedication to the program. He can get valuable information by joining affiliate forums, comparing different affiliate programs and reading articles on affiliate marketing where he can get tips from experienced affiliate marketers on how to choose the best merchants and products with high conversion rate.

The website is a very important tool in the whole affiliate program. As an affiliate marketer, you should plan how your site is going to be, from domain name to the design, the lay-out, the content, and ads. Some users are particular about what they see at first glance and thus when they find your site ugly, they won’t read through the content even if your site has many things to say and offer. On the other hand, there those who want information more than anything else. Affiliate marketers with “rich-content” web sites are usually the ones who prosper in this business because the content improves traffic to the site. Websites with high quality contents—with relevant keywords and more importantly, right information about the product and not empty hyped-up advertisements—allow you to earn big in affiliate marketing even when you’re asleep. If you won’t be able to sustain the interest of your site visitor, you won’t be able to lead him to the merchants’ site. No click-through means no sale and thus, no income on your part.

Selecting a top level domain name is also crucial to the success of the affiliate program. Lots of affiliate sites don’t appear in the search engine results because they are deemed by affiliate managers as personal sites. Major search engines and directories would think of your site as transient ones and thus, they won’t list it in the directory. Before you decide on the domain name, know first what you are going to promote. Many fail because their sites are not appropriately named, so even when they feature the exact products the customer is looking for, the customer might think the site is not relevant and thus, won’t enter the site.

Above all, an affiliate marketer must be willing to learn more. Certainly, there are still a lot of things to learn and so an affiliate marketer must continue to educate himself so he can improve his marketing strategies. Many fail because they don’t grow in the business and they are merely concerned about earning big quickly. If you want long-term and highly satisfactory results, take time to learn the ins and outs of the business. Continue to improve your knowledge especially with the basics in affiliate marketing ranging from advertising to programming, web page development, and search engine optimization techniques. Likewise, study the needs and wants of your site users and how different merchandisers compete with each other.

Keep on trying; don’t get disappointed if your first attempts did not pay off. Thousands are attracted by the possibility of generating skyrocketing incomes through affiliate marketing and so they sign up in any affiliate program without carefully understanding every aspect of the business. When they don’t get instant results, they quit and sign up for another program and repeat the process of just copying links and referring them to others. When you sign up for an affiliate program, don’t expect to get rich in an instant. Work on your advertising strategies and be patient. You’ll never know how much you can get if you don’t persevere.

Nowadays many people want to make money online using the power of affiliate programs, but most of them fail to achieve that financial level. Affiliate programs can be very profitable, if you have the resources to promote it online. Most people think that just by joining an affiliate program they are going to make money, but that’s not how it works these days. To become successful in this industry it takes much more than just motivation. The main reasons why most affiliate marketers fail to make money online are not having the right skills or knowledge, lack of patience, and not using the right marketing tools.

If you don’t know how to promote an affiliate program on the internet you simply will not succeed. You must have the right skills and knowledge. To do so you should listen to the experts of this industry. Learning from people who are successful will drastically speed up your learning curve and help you achieve your goals. There are many tactics and strategies that you must know about before you start promoting any affiliate program. This actually will save you a lot of time and money, because you will know which systems or advertising methods will bring profit and which will not. Starting as a newbie in affiliate marketing is getting more difficult each year, because of the huge competition in this industry. More and more people want to make money on the internet, which creates more competition between affiliates. By following internet marketing experts you will gain the knowledge and skills that will allow you to become a successful affiliate marketer.

Lack of patience is another major reason why most people fail in the affiliate marketing industry. Many newbies have no patience for their online business. Sometimes you just can’t expect to make money overnight. Your business might need time to develop and gain trust from your customers or visitors. For example, let’s say Bob applied to an affiliate program and starts building a website around that to presell customers and drive traffic to his affiliate links. He thinks he is going to submit his website to search engines and start receiving some free traffic. Bob finds out quickly that his website doesn’t generate traffic from search engines so he decides to research some search engine optimization strategies. Bob learns from some free resources about how to optimize his website. So now he has done some optimization and waits for traffic to start coming in. Well, he quickly learns that he must develop a link building campaign and gain as many links as possible to his website. Few weeks later Bob is still not generating any income from his site so he gives up and forgets the whole idea of making money with his affiliate program. This is a simple example of an affiliate marketing failure. What Bob didn’t know is that it takes months to start receiving heavy search engine traffic. He also didn’t know how to gain a lot of links to his site which caused him to fail as well. Patience plays an important role in affiliate marketing. You should never get discouraged or give up. It is very easy to fail if you don’t have the patience to grow your online business.

Not using the right internet marketing tools is the next important reason why affiliate marketers fail to drive traffic to their affiliate links. Nowadays it’s not enough to just do all the work manually. You need to use marketing tools that will make your work a lot easier and more efficient. For example, you should use some kind of html editor to build your web pages instead of doing it manually by writing the html code. This will allow you to have much more control over your website. Also using some content management tools will get you better results as well. You should also use some kind of seo tools that will keep you updated with the latest search engine algorithm changes. Internet marketing tools are very important and can have a major impact on your success with affiliate marketing. I would highly suggest you to get armed with some software tools to make your work smother and more productive. There are some very powerful marketing tools being developed everyday. You should always have a few in your internet marketing arsenal.

To sum everything up I would like to highlight the fact that over 90% of affiliate marketers fail to make the income that would allow them to actually make a living from the internet. The competition among affiliates is becoming stronger each day. Most affiliates try to establish multiple streams of income instead of concentrating on one affiliate program. It’s just a numbers game that only a few know how to play. I believe that affiliates fail because of not having the right marketing skills, lack of patience, and not using the right internet marketing tools. Affiliate marketing is not as easy as it used to be just a few years ago. A successful affiliate will never give up though and will keep growing his online empire for huge profits.

Firstly, don’t think that affiliate sales are only suitable for beginners! It is one of the most popular and profitable marketing techniques that is used by nearly all the major internet marketers.

Affiliate marketing is particularly suitable for newcomers to the internet, because:

* You don’t need to have a website

* You don’t need to have any of your own products to sell

* You don’t need to set up payment facilities and collect money

* You don’t need any technical knowledge

* You don’t need a massive budget to get started

In fact, it is so easy to set up and get started, that many internet marketers do nothing else but promote affiliate sales through the these following methods that I recommend.

5 Recommended Ways To Promote Affiliate Sales:

* Mailing Lists

* Ezine Ads

* Article Submissions

* Press Releases

* Pay Per Click

How Easy Is It To Find Affiliate Programs?

There are litrerally thousands of affiliate programs available for you to choose from. They cover just about any topic you can think of and offer a variey of different payment schemes and reporting facilities.

For example, if your area of interest is "dog training", then you can do a Google search using the following search terms: "dog training affiliate programs" without the quotes. When I last did this search it returned over 4 million results. So you can see, there is no shortage of affiliate programs.

Another good tip is look for an affiliate link on any website that interests you. The easiest way to do this is to click on your browsers "view button" and select "source". This will load the content of the page into Notepad and you can then do a "find" for "affiliate" or "partner" to see exactly where their link is, if they have one.

The first thing you need to do is get some help in the form of step by step instructions and coaching videos designed specifically for newbies.

Making money online can be a long and complicated process. It’s one thing to promote your own products, but when you’re just starting out and want to make some money, where do you start? The answer: affiliate programs.
This article focuses on the big picture, the “whys” of affiliate programs. Next article we’ll talk about the “hows” of promote affiliate programs.

Affiliate programs are easy to implement and simple to understand.

No products necessary
You never have to have your own product to make money with affiliate programs. It’s all about promoting other people’s products.  The steps to making money promoting other people’s products can be summarized in simple steps:
1) Choose an affiliate program.
2) Obtain an affiliate link from the program you’re trying to promote.
3) Create a site that has your affiliate link.
4) Prospects who click on your link will be redirected to the website that has the product you’re promoting.
5) If they make a purchase at this site through your affiliate link, you’ll get a commission (the percentage varies according to the program. What’s cool about it is that your prospects do not necessarily have to make a purchase right away for you to make money. Most affiliates (not all affiliate programs are created equal) will have software that “tracks” your prospects so that if they come back, say, three months later, and make a purchase, you’ll still make money.
No geniuses allowed
You don’t have to be a John Reese (a big time internet marketer) to make big money with affiliate programs. In fact, if you’re a John Reese, you shouldn’t be reading this article! Most affiliate programs are designed with the beginners in mind. In fact, you can promote a product without being an expert on the product. Leave that to the one who owns the product you’re trying to promote. All you have to do is pick a winning affiliate program that has a proven track record. Some affiliate programs will even provide you with prewritten emails, banners, text links and free eBooks that you can brand and promote.

Planting seeds

Think of affiliate programs as the planting seeds. Besides from the fact that you can make some money while promoting affiliate programs, you’re building a list (customer base) that can make you money again and again in the future. What you’re doing is really building relationships with your list. You can do this by sending follow-up emails, newsletters, etc. Once your “seeds” are “planted”, you can promote other affiliate products, or even your own to your list! – naturally, the bigger the list, the better. Keep nurturing your list and it’ll pay big dividends for you.

Understand the importance of building a list.

If there’s one thing that you get out of this article, it is this: you must build a list. How can you promote anything if you have a zero customer base?

If you’re going make mistakes, might as well make them here.

Just because affiliate programs are easy to implement and the fastest way to make money, doesn’t mean you’re not going make mistakes along the way. You WILL make mistakes. John Reese made mistakes. Babe Ruth made plenty of them. Every successful person makes mistakes. But since this will be your training ground, you might as well you’re your mistakes here. But more importantly, learn from them. The mistakes you make promoting affiliate programs will prepare you to bigger things – like creating and promoting your own products becoming a master marketer.

Building assets

Looking at the big picture, you’re learning valuable skills to build ASSETS. Use the skills you learn to continuously create multiple sources of income. Next article we’ll talk more about this.

You can start making money today if you followed these steps. Let the idea of building a list sink in your mind. It can produce both instant gratification and a perpetual cash machine if you set it up right.

Profitably Yours,

Alex Nguyen

I personally receive over a dozen checks and commission payments every month from various affiliate programs that I promote.

Last month, those checks totaled more than $10,000 and some months they have been as high as $25,000.

Given my success as an affiliate marketer, I'm often asked what affiliate programs I personally recommend.

The answer is easy because it's actually a pretty short list.

First, let me explain what an affiliate program is.

Affiliate programs are used by monster companies like Amazon, eBay, and many others to recruit resellers (affiliates) to help bring customers to their websites.

But the affiliate programs I prefer are those offered by smaller companies that sell digital products online. Those are the programs that pay up to 75% commission, while most larger companies may pay just a few percent.

You can join an affiliate program usually by applying online at the company's website. Being accepted into the program gives you the right to market the company's products as an independent reseller and receive commissions when you make a sale.

I've looked at hundreds of affiliate programs over the years and have come up with my own personal Top 10 Affiliate Programs that I actively participate in and heartily recommend.

Some of these programs require that you pay a membership fee and some do not. The reason some programs charge a fee (including my own affiliate programs) is because you get more value as an affiliate.

In most cases you get a full-blown website from which to sell the products and copies of most - if not all - of the products you'll be selling. For example, I charge $124.50 to join my program, but you get access to over $500 in products.

To make my list of the Top Affiliate Programs is not an easy task.

First of all, I have to personally be an affiliate of the program and must have earned considerable sums to prove its validity.

To make my list the program must also:

Offer quality products that offer real value, no fluff
Offer high commissions (30% minimum, 50% preferred)
Offer 2 tier commissions (if the 1st tier payout is substantial, I can live with a single tier)

Have a proven track record of success
Have a spotless reputation
Pay commissions on time, every time
Have well-known affiliates who will vouch for the program
Be more than 6 months old
Have a low rate or returns

There you go, my personal Top 10 Affiliate Programs, but don't think that is the definitive list. There are tens of thousands of products and companies that you can sign on with as an affiliate and earn commissions.

You can find most of them listed at Clickbank or Commission Junction.

Affiliate marketing  been in the Internet industry for rather sometime now and it's one of the most popular tools around employed by several online entrepreneurs nowadays. It's a capital pick for those who would like to put up an online business quick and inexpensively. Even so, there's still a large amount of the population who acknowledges a little or still zero about it. And most of the people who have barely discovered this business typically assume that they can well make big money out of it. Well, they are definitely wrong.

To be successful in affiliate marketing business is not an leisurely project and it will never occur overnight. It’s simply like an in progress assignment where you want to check and try several advertising strategies and tactics. This could even call for you to sign-up with various affiliate programs just to find which merchants performs all right.

Some other misconception that expect to gain a lot if they place all but 20 affiliated banners on exactly one niche. Well it won't actually work the way you believe it would since once your site is overflowing with too several banners, it will appear like a link farm and visitors will not be curious and won’t even bother clicking on any of those banners. So if you actually prefer to promote several affiliate programs in your website, make sure that they swing with the theme and subject from the rest of the articles on your niche. Keep in mind that three to four affiliated links in your site are decent, depending on the size of the web page.

There is as well some who consider that if they add affiliate materials to their site, they can get sales at once. Possibly they simply don’t know that affiliate marketing is totally about advertising. Whenever there’s no traffic hitting your site, how could you expect to acquire any sales? Recall that the to a greater extent you advertise your affiliate link or the site where the affiliate links are placed, the more clickthru’s these links are likely to receive.

If you would like to be involved with or you’ve already joined an affiliate program, but you have the above misconceptions regarding affiliate marketing, then, you might need a mentor to help you work where to start out and what to do ready to succeed.

In the dictionary, the word mentor is defined as a wise and trusted instructor or counselor. Generally, these individuals are experts in the subject area they are into. They can give skillful advice and direction as well as supervision to another individual. So when we say affiliate marketing mentors, they are experienced counselors that have made affiliate marketing their specialty. Affiliate marketing mentors can be those persons that have already been successful in affiliate marketing and are always willing to share their experienced-based knowledge from the viewpoint of both the affiliates and the web merchants. And that’s the reason why we come up with this page. It is aimed to give you the stuffs that affiliate mentors should possess and follow and why do they need these things.

Of course, it's beneficial for an affiliate marketing mentor to live and utilize many theories and generalities regarding your business but there’s nothing more helpful and effective than telling the client what works today and what are the things that could probably work in the future and if the trend changes. As a mentor, you should be one of the sources of knowledge for your client and the first one to teach them on how to generate more affiliate income. You too, need to be knowledgeable and equipped with the keys to success for affiliate marketers as well as for merchants. And you should guide your clients as they try to do the things that can help boost their profit because once they do well in that business, it can be counted as one of your great achievements. This also makes you a successful mentor.

There are some articles on affiliate marketing that says, in order to be triumphant in affiliate marketing business, you need to encompass and develop these traits: persistence, patience and thirst for knowledge. And as a mentor, it is your job to help your clients take in these traits within themselves. Once they’ve already developed the abovementioned character, it’ll be very easy for you to explain to them that attaining success in affiliate marketing requires sweat, blood and of course, hefty time commitment. These traits will also teach them not to give up.

Furthermore, before you coach your client to be expert in SEO, link exchanges, email marketing, newsletter marketing, reciprocal exchanges and advertising in forums, you should first become expert on these fields. They'll sure find it hard to learn these things alone and without supervision from the one who knows best. So be sure that you are knowledgeable on these things before you accept any invitation to be a mentor. Yes, being a mentor is way harder than succeeding in affiliate marketing but this task is very rewarding especially if your client become victorious. The failure of your client is your failure too so you must do your very best to be able to bring your client on tour to success. Again, it is never an easy task and there’s nothing you'll be able to do about it. After all, that’s what affiliate marketing mentors are for.

It seems that there are thousands of companies that have chosen to manage their own affiliate programs rather than using companies like Linkshare or Commission Junction.

In fact, our friends at Five Star Affiliate Programs tracked a posting on a UK affiliate forum where they are wondering if the networks deserve their 30% commission. Great Question.

The point is that it takes big bucks to get into a Commission Junction or a LinkShare, and there are plenty of good-paying, unique programs out there that are worth at least reviewing. Like everything else on the Internet there are plenty of directories out there that list independent affiliate programs. Again, like everything else on the Internet some of them just list programs from other networks (like Clickbank).

In fact, a lot of them were organized the same way and had the same sites listed, so I came to the conclusion that they were just repackaged content (which I find a lot on the Net these days).

I looked over 25 to 30 of these directories, and here are the 5 I found the most useful, in the order that I liked them:

1. Affiliateseeking.com
This was my favorite. They seemed to have the most unique set of sites, and the user interface is intuitive.

2. Earnfind.com
EarnFind was a good one too, with lots of good links and good organization.

3. Clickslink.com
Not a bad site, although many of the listings were from other networks.

4. AffiliatePrograms.com
Great layout, some good sites. My only gripe is that it is a paid listing service, which lessens its impartiality.

5. AffiliateGuide.com
This is the affiliate guide template site. Lots of ads, but some good programs. I wanted to include at least one of these sites…there are many.

Here's a good Google tip: type in the word or phrase that describes the affilate program keyword, then include +affiliate. For example, if you're looking for a dog toys affiliate you would search dog toys +affiliate. You should get back a bunch of programs.

If you know of any more good ones, drop me a line at www.affiliateblog.com.

Seasoned Vets and Newbies alike frequently ask the same question, What and where are the best affiliate programs?

My answer to this question will require answering the question with several questions.

First you'll want to ask yourself, what are you interested in?

Then, what do you know a little something about?

There are many sources as well as an affiliate program that would match just about any interest you may have or know something about.

Let's see if we can't simplify the process of chosing the best affiliate programs to promote.

Head on over to <a href="http://clickbank.com/">http://clickbank.com/ </a>
This is my favorite source of the most popular programs. They tell you the percentage you'll recieve on each sale and they also put it in dollars and cents. They also reveal other stats about each program that will help you to determine if the program you chose is right for you to promote.

Your next choice is <a href="http://www.linkshare.com/">http://www.linkshare.com/ </a>
LinkShare pioneered online affiliate marketing, and today runs the largest pay for performance affiliate marketing network on the Internet. With over 10 million partnerships in the network it is the most successful pay for performance network of its kind.

Next is Commission Junction <a href="http://www.cj.com/">http://www.cj.com/</a>
Maximize your revenue opportunities by developing sustainable relationships with top-tier advertisers. Perform and get paid for every sale and lead you generate. For qualifying publishers, take your program to the next level with their industry exclusive solution for top-performers.

There are more equally as credible affiliate program sources on the web but for the sake of simplicity and to keep this article to a minimum length I'm going to limit these resources to the top three. If you like, you can simply go to your favorite search engine and continue your search fo "Affiliate Program Resources".

Knowing a little something about what you want to sell will be to your advantage but not required. After all, this is The Information Super Highway and whatever information we need can be found here. The tools at are disposal are many. You just need to know where they are and what they will tell you.

Google.com would be a good place to start your search. If you type "affiliate programs" into the search box you you will get a list of literally millions of potential programs. At the time of this writing (7-12-06) there were 111,000,000 possible affiliate programs to chose from. That blows my mind (:-(

You don't have to weed through that many sites. The first few pages should give you a few ideas as to what you want to promote. Try and stick with something you've got some background in.

For example, let's say you've been working in a pet store for awhile. See if you can't find an affiliate program related to pets. Maybe pet food, pet training, pet care, etc. Perhaps you'll want to target specific pets like dogs or dog training. Dog Training and Dog Breeds are very "HOT" Markets right now and I suspect they will be for quite sometime to come.

Let's say you've chosen Dog Breeds as a topic of interest. It's time to research that topic and see if there is indeed a market for it.

Go to Overture.com and type Dog Breeds into the search box. I found the amount of searches done for this topic to be 184,184 in April 2006. This would certainly be a topic I'd want to further investigate.

I'd follow that bit of information up by going to Nichebot.com and typing those same key words into the search box. The information returned will prove to be an invaluable tool for making you affilate program choice. Pay particular attention to the far right column. The numbers that are closest to zero determine less competition. Look for something in that category and copy those keywords back to Google.com and do another search. I'm sure you'll be able to find a program to join and promote.

Try and find a Program with at least a 50% commission, which comes out to at least $20. for you. More if possible. You can chose a program with a lesser commission if it is what's called a high ticket item. A good rule of thumb to remember is "It takes as much effort to promote High Ticket Items as it does to promote a program for a $20.00 Sale".

So why waste your time and advertising dollars promoting products that only bring a $20.00 commission when the same amount of time and money can bring you a commission of $200.00. It's good sense and the math tells the story as well.

The time and effort spent promoting small ticket items is the same as high ticket items. The benefit is you don't have to make as many sales with the more expensive item as you do with the smaller one.

The best advice I can give is to be patient, utilize as many free resources to promote your programs as you can. There are many. Get your own domain and web host. You'll want to put together a site that is unlike the generic affiliate site that the owner provides. This will put you in a different category as you will not be promoting the same page as a thousand other marketers. It will also make you credible and establish you as someone who is serious about their business on the web.

Patience is a Virtue. Posess it if you can and by the way, Happy Marketing!

If you want to be a top affiliate there are important things that you should know before begin promoting an affiliate program. If you follow these recommendations you will save time and money on the steps to enrichment.

1 The first and very important thing that you have to do is to create a memorable domain name for your website, since this will be essential to branding yourself on the Web.

2 According to some experts you must also build a relationship by capturing email address for a free article or opt-in newsletter or maybe giving a free gift, the idea behind is to promote affiliate programs by emails.

3 The third thing you have to do and is one of the best ways for promotion consists in writing articles for ezines and newsletters, like this one that you are reading, with your resource box at the bottom of articles.

4 The fourth thing you have to do is to maintain your web site on a daily basis. The main thing is to generate a lot of contents and information, but useful and related to your website, through articles and interviews, among others.

5 If you want to offer products, just choose a few good ones and concentrate your energies on selling them, otherwise you will spent a lot of time and will not earn what you expected.

6 You should never use the ad headlines provided by the affiliate program, because all the other affiliates may use it, what is a terrible mistake; therefore write your own profit-producing ad copy and headlines.

7 You should reinvest all of your profits to market your business in the first months, doing the most that you can automatizing your website, the better.

Of course, there are many other techniques, but you must start doing right now and stop to learn forever.

Affiliate marketing is advertising for someone else in exchange for a cut of the sales you generate. You’re sharing your traffic for a price. It’s a great way to capitalize on the traffic your website’s already producing.

Being an Affiliate

If you run a small, home-based eBiz, you can join an affiliate program and get paid to share your traffic with another merchant. You’ll want to look for sites that tie in with yours—things your customer base will be interested in. Choose sites whose products are complementary to yours without overlapping.

Before you join any affiliate program, look closely at the merchant you’ll be promoting. Find out if they have an affiliate earnings history—can they prove their site converts at a specific rate? Do they have an affiliate manager you can talk to about your marketing efforts and any problems you have? Is their program well-established? You want to make sure they’re honest and will pay you for the conversions you bring them.

Your goal is to make customers want to buy their product, and then pass the customers along so the merchant can complete the sale. Don’t just paste a link to a merchant’s webpage and expect it to magically produce sales—tell your customers what makes their product better than other similar products. According to Jonathan Miller, of http://Team-Affiliate.com, “The sites that do better are the ones that select one or two offers, tell people why they recommend these particular offers, and then provide them with a link.”

Using Affiliates

You can increase your own traffic by paying a commission to other merchants to bring you leads. As a merchant, you should scrutinize the affiliates who advertise for you. You’re attaching your brand to their website, so look at their reputation—are they someone you want to be associated with? Also look at their relevance to your target market—are they someone that will drive the right kind of traffic?

There are software programs that track visitors when they leave an affiliate’s website and click through to the merchant’s site. If they convert to a sale, the affiliate that referred them gets paid a commission. You can track your visitors in two different ways, and each has its own advantages:

• You can purchase stand alone tracking software, like My Affiliate Program, and integrate it into your site. You decide what you can afford to pay marketers to promote you and make offers based on your budget.

• You can join an affiliate network, such as LinkShare or Kolimbo. This is a more costly route because the network determines the commission percentage you pay, but they also bring you offers from the inside and give you access to their pool of affiliates.

Says Miller, “An affiliate program can be very lucrative for both an affiliate marketer and a merchant… But it takes time and effort to deliver consistent results.”
